Incentivized Peer Referrals for Tuberculosis Screening: Evidence from India

The study demonstrates that the necessary conditions for large-scale, communitybased referral schemes exist. We emphasize the establishment of these necessary conditions in terms of current patients’ access to information and their ability and willingness to share it, rather than the ability of peer referral schemes to tackle the scale of India’s TB problemIn addition to contributing to the academic literature on networks, referrals, and incentives, our study is relevant to public health policy. It is closely aligned with and designed to study potential improvements to the strategies used to fight TB by both the World Health Organization (WHO) and India’s RNTCP.
