Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET) was founded in 1997 with the mandate of promoting vocational education and training, and contributing to the enhancement of vocational skills of the Korean public. This was to be achieved through research and projects on skills development, including research on vocational education and training policies, qualification systems, and development and dissemination of vocational education and training programs.

KRIVET is a national policy research institute under the Prime Minister with the vision of becoming ‘a global skills development policy research institute that spearheads creation of linkage between education and training with employment’. To that end, KRIVET is endeavoring to carry out various research and projects, from policy research on national human resources development and vocational education and training to qualification systems, education/training program development, evaluation of vocational training institutes and training programs, management of nationally recognized private qualifications, and provision of job/career information and counseling service.
